2025-07-04: First second breakfast in nearly 4 months

Welcome back readers, it's been nearly 4 months since my last aupdate. I've been neglecting my second breakfast blog due to having a busy period at work and other life factors - mostly because I'm very lazy, and instead of writing periodically about second breakfasts I've been eating too many. In the last 4 months I've done a bit of travelling for work and can tell you that different areas have different approaches to second breakfast. In the Cocos Keeling Islands, a second breakfast consists of coffee made with UHT milk (because there is no fresh milk there) and a toastie or a croissant, served amongst about a billion mosqitos. In Katherine in the Northern Territory, a second breakfast in town can be waffles, or eggs benedict depending on where you go, or if you're brave enough to endure the smell at the local Woolies I'm sure you could find something suitable there. More recently I was in Darwin, and found that a second breakfast consisted of a coffee and some yoghurt or fruit salad, which is refreshing considering it's always above 30 degrees outside no matter what time of year you're there. Back home, most of the time a second breakfast has consisted of a black coffee (I switched to black coffee from lattes), a banana, and a muesli bar. A few times I have gone to a bakery and gotten a fruit scone or a coffee scroll if I felt like sampling their wares.

My mother has been hassling me to update the site for months now, waiting on baited breath to find out that I have once again visited the bakery as she knows I have a sweet tooth. One of these days I will find a bakery that does a decent beesting and then I'll have to buy new pants a few sizes up. There's an Italian cafe nearby that does miniature pastries, I might have that for second breakfast tomorrow.
